19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent defended four early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
