Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
